SoFurry Minecraft Vanilla Help Guide- Get Started Here!

Vanilla Server Rules

Rules are a very important aspect of any Minecraft server. If you have not read them already, please head to the Rules Page and give them a read-over before you continue onto this guide. This will help keep you from getting in trouble! If you have any questions about our rules or policies on our server, please make sure to reach out to any of our staff team, we are more than willing to answer any questions, or provide clarity on a subject that you need help understanding. You can also read the rules at any time in-game with the /rules command, or use /rulebook for a physical book copy of the book.

As soon as you log onto our server for the first time, you will notice you have a few books in your inventory. These are to help you in-game by keeping a reference with you at all times. Please, make sure you read these, as they contain some vital information. The information in those books will also be kept here.

Getting Started

One of the first things recommended to do on our server is make a home. The sooner you build your house, the sooner you can have it protected with a region and you can be promoted to the Regular rank on our server. In any of our current worlds, you can use /kit start to obtain a starter kit, containing a set of awesome SoFurry orange leather armour, a set of enchanted stone tools, a quarter stack of candles, and a quarter stack of food for you, to get you started with your adventuring!

On the topic of your house, you should know that we have a series of guidelines that we measure every home by before they can be regioned. This is to ensure that all players are treated fairly, as well as giving us some time to monitor new players for strange behaviours, that could lead to trolling/griefing in the future. The qualifications for your first home are as follows:

  1. Your home must be at least 5x5x5 on the inside. This means you have to have a total house that is at least 7x7x7 blocks on the outside in order for it to be considered for a region.
  2. Your home must not be made out of naturally-generated materials. What this means is that you cannot have a home regioned that has only blocks that were there as a result of world generation. For example, you cannot do the following:
    • Dig a hole in the side of a mountain, or in the ground, and have it regioned.
    • Build a wall around a village and expect it to be regioned. For this to happen, you must change at least of half of all the buildings inside the village.
    • Place a few chests inside a Woodland Mansion and have it regioned. This is the same as a village, you must change at least half of the original structure(s) for them to be considered for regioning.
  3. Your home must be made out of at least 4 different materials, excluding overly-common materials. This also means you cannot have a mixture of any of the "banned" building materials either. These materials are as follows:
    • Cobblestone. This should go without saying, as it is one of the most plentiful material obtained by mining. Please do not expect your 7x7x7 cobblestone structure to be protected, you will be informed of the guidelines again, and asked to rebuild your home first.
    • Dirt. This is also a no-brainer. Dirt houses, as well as being ugly, are the simplest, most effort-free home you can build, and will not qualify for a region.
    • Sand. This material is also banned, as it is the easiest material to dig with a shovel, requiring no effort on the players part. Same with the next material:
    • Gravel. Again, this material is too easy to dig, even if it is less common than sand/dirt.
    • Sandstone. The only exception to this, is that you take the time to carve or smooth the sandstone in a grindstone first.
  4. Your home must have a ceiling, floor, walls, and some sort of entrance/exit. This means that you can have a trapdoor/door on the ceiling or wall to get into or out of your house, however you cannot just have a hole for an entrance. Your ceiling, floor, and walls must all be placed by you in order for your home to qualify for a region.
  5. If you are building a home below sea-level (y=62), all of the ores, save coal and iron, within your proposed region must be removed before you may region the area. This can either be done via mining all the ores within your proposed region, or you may ask a mod+ to replace all the ores with stone.
  6. The only exceptions to the previous rules is if you have a very large or substantial build that we can tell you have already put forth a lot of effort into building. This we will region for you regardless of completion level, so that your build is safe.

Once you get your home built and ready to go, all you have to do is ask a staff member to come over and region it for you. They will ask you where you would like your region teleport set at; this is a "free" teleport, that you can use to get back to your house with instead of using a /sethome to do so, you should pick a strategic place for it, however it can be moved at any time (to the location you are standing) by using /rg flag %region% teleport here or its alias /rs %region%. You can have as many regions in as many different worlds as you would like, the only stipulation being that you have to use the majority of the space that is regioned. You can have a bit of growth-room, however most of the space inside your region must be used.

Keep in mind that you cannot claim an abandoned build as your first home. Abandoned builds are classified on our server as the following: There is no region around the build, there is no core protect data, and there are no protect signs on chests or other inventories that has a players name on it. If any of those are present, then the build is not considered abandoned until the player has been offline for 90 days (3 months) as determined by the /seen %player% command. To claim an abandoned build or region, you must also have a valid reason, that will be left to staff discretion.

Ranks and Permissions

Below is a listing of all of our ranks and their available features. Each of these are separated by the header containing the verbatim default prefix for each rank, followed by a brief description of that rank and how to obtain them, the available commands, then the rest of the available features/perks. Note that the donation ranks can be applied to any player regardless of their current rank, as our rank ladder will not be affected. If you donate as a new player, you have both the New rank's features with the donation rank's perks. In this scenario, when you get promoted to the next rank, you will not lose your donation perks, however your prefix will be changed to the new ladder rank. This can be fixed by an Admin, if you wish.

Jobs Help

On our server we also have jobs to help our players make money outside of the shops. This way, you can work one or more jobs that you tend to do a majority of, and make money for doing so. Each job has its own advantages and drawbacks, with various different amounts of base income received from different amounts of items mined/dug/farmed/bred/etc. To look at all the various jobs, how much they pay for each action, and to join them, you can use /jobs browse. This will open a GUI to you, showing you all the different jobs. You can also left-click on a job to view how much pay per action you get, by hovering over each of the items in the GUI. To join a job, you can either use the command /jobs join %job% or you can right-click the job in the main GUI menu. New members have the default job Miner, Regular can have 2 jobs, SF can have 3, and Donor Ranks or Staff members can have 4 total jobs. The other commands you can use are as follows:

WorldGuard Help

WorldGuard is the plugin we use to protect our players' builds from potential danger from other players, explosions, etc. Once you get your first region, or are a member of another person's region, you are able to change some things about it. If you are a region's owner, you are able to add or remove an owner from the region, add or remove a member from the region, teleport to the region you own, and change flags for your region. If you are a member of a region, you can still teleport to the region, and access the items/blocks/etc inside. Region flags are a way for region owners to customize their regions. On our server, players have access to the following flags:

NOTE: These flags can also be changed by using /rg i to access the info screen while inside your region, then clicking on "flags" in the text field, to toggle allow/deny on any flag you have access to. You can use the info screen to add or remove members, owners, and more. If you'd like access to any more flags, please contact Zaphara#2811 on discord to suggest which youd like added.
